Just
light nerds.
With a brand.
Hilox started in 2014 with one goal: light that actually does what it promises. Scroll along through our story.
It began
on the mountain bike.
We started in 2014 with LED lighting for the mountain bike. We wanted to ride in the dark just as happily as in daylight, and what was on sale simply wasn't good enough for us.
A year later, in 2015, car lighting came along. Because once you know how good light can be, you suddenly see bad headlights everywhere.

Tech, design and
a touch of obsession.
Behind Hilox is a mix of tech, design and marketing, and founder Bobby studied electrical engineering. So we know (almost) everything about little lamps. Lumens, colour temperature, cooling, beam pattern: we genuinely enjoy it. You can see that in everything we sell.

Made better
at Pilot.
Through Pilot International, another lighting brand (now bankrupt), we improved and developed the Hilox technology further. This is what we brought over from there:
Real chips
Lumileds LEDs instead of knock-offs. That makes more of a difference to the light than you'd think.
Beam pattern first
An LED has to sit right to the millimetre. Otherwise you dazzle the oncoming driver and can't see anything yourself.
Cooling that works
Heat is the enemy of an LED. Good cooling keeps it bright and makes it last.
Fits and works
CAN-bus proof where it has to be, so your dashboard doesn't start beeping.
Twelve years of light.
The first lights
Hilox starts with LED lighting for the mountain bike.
Car lighting
Xenon and LED kits for the car join the range.
LED collars
Light for your dog: visible up to 200 metres in the dark.
Best in test
Truckstar tests LED low beam and the Hilox XTR Black comes out on top.
Car, bike and animal
From xenon kit to dog collar, still with the same obsession for good light.
Light is only good when you really see better with it.
The face behind the light.
"I come from tech, design and marketing, and thanks to my electrical engineering degree I know (almost) everything about little lamps. Feel free to ask me a tricky question about your headlight: chances are I know the answer, and if not, I'll find out for you."

better light?
