An interesting customer review from Arno and his 2016 Peugeot 208. A complete rundown of going from old bulbs to shiny new LED low beam lighting. Including a short how-to guide.

LED Low Beam - Peugeot 208 2016 - Customer Review
Short answer
How does LED low beam work out in a 2016 Peugeot 208?
- Arno chose LED for better visibility in the dark, and because the little candle of a bulb in the low beam didn't suit the LED strip in the headlight.
- The LED bulb lasts extremely long, so it pays for itself in the end.
- The installation was easy, he only had to adapt the cover cap.
- You can unscrew the base of the H7 LED, which makes installation even easier.
LED low beam Peugeot 208: why did you choose an LED kit?
First of all, to see better when I have to drive in the dark. There is also an LED strip in the headlight, and then a ghastly little candle of a bulb in the low beam. It just looked wrong.
It also pays for itself in the end, because the LED bulb lasts extremely long.
How did the installation of the H7 LED kit go?
Easy, the LED bulb simply slotted into place. I did have to adapt the cover cap, but that was no big deal either.
LED kit used
- Low beam: H7 L2 LED, Hilox Evolution
- 52 mm rubber housing cap
Suitable for all Peugeot models
Want a Hilox LED kit like this in your Peugeot, or do you drive another make? You can! Hilox LED kits fit just about any car: young, old, fat or thin. All you need is a left and a right hand (installing an LED kit is very simple, so you don't strictly need two right hands!) and an LED kit with the right fitting. Not sure which fitting your car has? Check our fitting finder or get in touch with us.
What do you think of the end result?
Happy. The beam pattern is the same, because my headlight has a lens and the LED bulb has exactly the same focal point as the standard bulb. The result: plenty of light and better visibility.
Any tips for buying and/or installing?
No tips needed. The installation is self-explanatory and no harder than replacing an ordinary bulb, you just need to make the standard cover cap fit a little.
Pro installation tips: installing an LED kit
1. For the installation of the H7 LED kit you can unscrew the base of the LED bulb, which makes installing even easier. First fix the H7 base in the headlight, then simply twist the LED into it.
2. Short on space? See whether the deeper rubber housing caps make the installation possible.
Pro installation tip: aiming your LED low beams
Because nothing changes about the headlight itself except the bulb, in most cases you don't need to re-aim the headlight. Still, it is wise to check that you aren't dazzling oncoming traffic. Park your car in front of a wall with the standard lighting on and mark the cut-off line of the beam with a pencil or marker. After installing the LEDs, check whether it is still in the same place.

What you need to know about an H7 LED kit
Arno used the H7 L2 LED from Hilox Evolution. Hilox's current H7 kit is the 4th generation: the H7 XTR Black LED kit Hilox Evolution. According to the product data:
- 3,600 lumens per LED, instantly 3.5 times more light than halogen.
- Luxeon Z ES LED chips from Lumileds (Philips), which last up to 50,000 hours: 50 times longer than halogen.
- The LED can be rotated through 360 degrees, so you can get the beam pattern right in both reflector and projector headlights. A projector headlight like Arno's is sensitive to the focal point, so that adjustment comes in handy.
- A Smart Cool IC chip with Maglev fan stops the chips from burning out.
- IP68 waterproof and Plug-N-Play installation.
- The Duo contains 2 bulbs, 2 drivers and 2 CAN-bus II modules.
CAN-bus in the Peugeot
Many modern cars use CAN-bus to check whether the bulbs work. Because an LED draws less current than a halogen bulb, the system can report a faulty bulb. According to the product data, the CAN-bus II module of the XTR Black is 100% CAN-bus proof. CAN-bus LEDs are also available separately for smaller bulbs.
Please note: according to the product data, LED bulbs with an H fitting designation cannot receive an ECE or E-mark approval and are intended for the racetrack and private property. After installing, have the beam aimed and check that your car still meets the APK (the Dutch roadworthiness test) requirements. If in doubt, check with the RDW (the Dutch vehicle authority) or your inspector.
